The Ministry of Works and Transport is vested with the sole responsibilities of construction/supervision of roads and drainages erosion/flood control works and construction/supervision of Public Buildings. It also provides Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Services to the State Government. The Ministry is also in charge of Motor Vehicle Administration in the State Another important arm of the Ministry is Borno Roads Maintenance Agency, charge with the responsibility of monitoring and maintenance of all the roads in the State. The Ministry also supervises the services of Borno Express Transport Corporation. All the Directorate of the ministry report to the Permanent Secretary who is also the Chief Accounting Officer through the Ministerial Secretary, while the Permanent Secretary works under the Honourable Commissioner who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry. The Ministry of Works and Transport is incharge of formulating appropriate policies on management of all government infrastructure as well as transportation issues in the state.
